There are many homes for sale in senior living communities in Arizona.  These are also referred to as retirement communities, senior independent living homes, or adults only communities.  They all have their own specific sets of rules for the community; but, typically you have to be 55 or older to own a property in one of these communities and to live in one of the homes.  Owners are usually allowed to have visitors who are younger than 55 stay in the home for a limited period of time.

These communities are not to be confused with assisted living communities. Residents need to be able to live independently without needing assistance from a residential staff. 

Some of the homes are single family detached houses and some are townhomes or condos.  The majority of these retirement communities will have a community pool.  Many are considered active senior living communities and have recreation centers and golf courses. Frequently there are classes and activities offered through the community at a club house or other facility.
